Image quality and EMVA data
Leveraging the camera's C-mount is essential for many vision applications. Our Basler camera delivers outstanding image quality with its high-resolution, square E2525A sensor, all at a competitive price.
![Image comparison between camera with established sensor on the left and Basler camera on the right: field of view and image quality are comparable.](http://images-ctf.baslerweb.com/dg51pdwahxgw/1dSqHmCOZck1jxcgW2By33/469eb652f8dfd6bfc71c8aea2c6ec309/ace2-comparison.webp?fm=webp&f=bottom_right&w=800&h=450&q=60&fit=pad)
The image comparison demonstrates that our camera, featuring a 25 MP resolution and square 1.1" sensor format, performs just as well as a comparable camera with a well-established 25 MP sensor. The field of view and image quality, even in detailed views, are comparable.
Due to the significantly higher QE (quantum efficiency) of the E2525A sensor, the exposure time can be reduced compared to the reference sensor. This is especially important for low-light applications. For example, the E2525A sensor reaches an SNR1 (Signal-to-Noise Ratio = 1) at an illuminance of 1 lux with just a quarter of the exposure time.
Comparison sensor | E2525A Sensor | Improvement | |
---|---|---|---|
Quantum efficiency | 51 % | 66 % | 30 % |
Dark noise | 3.7 e- | 2.5 e- | 32 % |
Dynamic range | 957 = 60 dB | 2589 = 68 dB | 170 % |
Signal-to-noise ratio | 65 = 36.30 dB | 90 = 39.07 dB | 38 % |
Dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU) / Photon response non-uniformity (PRNU) | 22 e- / 2 % | 0.3 e- / 0.7 % | 95 % / 65 % |
The EMVA data and the QE curve underline the outstanding performance of the E2525A sensor. All values show a significant improvement compared to the established comparison sensor.
Our camera excels with its high resolution, square sensor format, and compact design, all at a competitive price.
